A deputy headmaster faces allegations of initiating unsolicited sexual contact with an 18-year-old male inside an office at Leonardtown High School.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reports that Kelly Eugene McClure-Hewitt, 55, has been charged with third-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense involving sexual contact, and second-degree assault.
The investigation into McClure-Hewitt commenced in March, in collaboration with St. Mary’s County Public Schools, following a formal complaint lodged by the victim.
According to the victim, he had visited McClure-Hewitt’s office on several occasions, during which the deputy headmaster allegedly presented him with unwarranted gifts, engaged in discussions about sexual orientation, and made uninvited sexual advances. The victim stated that he had no prior acquaintance or any kind of interaction with McClure-Hewitt before these incidents.
McClure-Hewitt was subsequently detained at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he is being held without the possibility of bail.
In a separate incident, a special education teacher from Marshall High School has been arrested and faces two charges of assaulting a student with special needs.
